ERA REAL ESTATE AFFILIATE PARTNERS WITH UNIVERSITY TO CREATE HOME TELEVISION MAGAZINE PROGRAM
PARSIPPANY, NJ, June 5, 2003 – ERA OakCrest Realty, Inc., a division of OakCrest Companies, in Winchester, Va., recently teamed up with Shenandoah University to produce At Home, a weekly cable television magazine program that explores home-related topics ranging from step-by-step design methods for improving a home's landscape to advice about home financing. The weekly half-hour programs feature professional advice on landscaping and home construction as well as tips on how to make home improvement projects less frustrating. There are also segments that help guide consumers through the homebuying and selling processes. "At Home is the first show in our community designed to help the audience with all aspects of homeownership," said Janice Wright, director of marketing, ERA OakCrest Realty, Inc. and co-host of the show. "Since OakCrest offers real estate, mortgage and construction services, we are in an ideal position to be an educational resource for the community." At Home was the brainchild of Jim Vickers, owner, ERA OakCrest Realty, Inc. and a Shenandoah University trustee, who approached the university's president with his local cable show idea last year. "We partnered with Shenandoah University to film, edit and broadcast the shows," said Wright. "This is a cooperative effort to help students gain broadcast experience. So for each show, two to three Shenandoah mass communications students help produce the program. The relationship with the university is going extraordinarily well." Wright co-hosts the show with ERA OakCrest Realty, Inc. real estate sales professional Dick Helm. In addition, reporters Rick Ours and Dana Crannell cover stories about trends in technology and host "how-to" segments on home repair. Segment topics for At Home are determined by an advisory committee made up of representatives of all the OakCrest divisions. Viewers are also encouraged to e-mail the show topic ideas. At Home recently won national recognition including the "Aegis Award of Excellence," the video industry's premiere award for peer recognition of video productions and two Videographer Awards.
